Defcia offers essential oils, carrier oils, and hydrosols for a variety of botanical and aromatic uses. The appropriate method of use depends on the individual product, its botanical composition, concentration, and intended application.
This guide provides general ways to use Defcia products. Always review the individual product label and product-specific directions before use.
Essential Oils
Essential oils are highly concentrated botanical products. Defcia's Essential Oils collection is organized into aromatic lifestyle groups to help customers explore products according to their preferred atmosphere, aroma, and experience.
Sleep & Unwind
Explore softer aromatic profiles selected for creating a quiet and comfortable atmosphere as part of an evening routine.
Diffuser: As a general starting point, add approximately 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water in a compatible ultrasonic diffuser, or follow the instructions supplied by your diffuser manufacturer.
Body blend: Where the individual essential oil is suitable for topical use, dilute it in a suitable carrier oil before applying it to the skin. Always follow the product-specific dilution guidance.
Home & Atmosphere
This collection brings together aromatic oils suited to creating a distinctive botanical atmosphere throughout your living space.
Diffuser: Begin with approximately 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water. Use fewer drops for smaller rooms or stronger aromatic oils and adjust gradually according to the diffuser, room size, ventilation, and individual product.
For ambient diffusion, allow fresh-air exchange and avoid running a diffuser continuously throughout the day.
Energy & Uplift
Explore bright, fresh, and expressive aromatic profiles for moments when you want a lively botanical atmosphere.
Diffuser: Add approximately 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water as a general starting point. Adjust according to the strength of the individual oil and your diffuser manufacturer's instructions.
Personal aromatic routine: Essential oils suitable for topical application may be incorporated into a properly diluted carrier-oil blend according to the directions provided for the individual oil.
Focus & Clarity
This collection features crisp and distinctive botanical aromas for workspaces, reading areas, studios, and other environments where a fresh aromatic setting is preferred.
Diffuser: Start with approximately 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water. For smaller spaces, begin at the lower end and increase only when appropriate.
Mood & Emotional Balance
Discover floral, botanical, citrus, woody, and other aromatic profiles selected for creating a pleasant and personally enjoyable environment.
Diffuser: Use approximately 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water as a general starting point, subject to the individual oil and diffuser instructions.
Body blend: When an individual essential oil is suitable for topical use, it may be diluted in an appropriate carrier oil. For general adult body oils and lotions, a 1–3% essential-oil concentration is a commonly used general range, but product-specific limits always take priority.
Calm & Relaxation
Explore gentle aromatic profiles for quiet personal routines and comfortable home environments.
Diffuser: Begin with approximately 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water, adjusting downward for particularly strong oils or smaller spaces.
Bath: Never add undiluted essential oil directly to bath water. Essential oils do not dissolve in water. Use only an essential oil appropriate for bath use and first incorporate it into a suitable bath base or dispersing medium according to the individual product guidance.
Fresh & Clean
This collection focuses on crisp botanical aromas for customers who prefer a fresh aromatic character in their surroundings.
Diffuser: Begin with approximately 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water and adjust according to room size, ventilation, diffuser output, and the strength of the individual oil.
Essential oils used for atmospheric purposes should be used according to the individual product directions and are not substitutes for household cleaning or disinfecting products.
Meditation & Grounding
Explore deeper woody, resinous, earthy, floral, and botanical aromatic profiles for quiet spaces and personal aromatic rituals.
Diffuser: Start with approximately 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water. A lower concentration may be sufficient for stronger or more persistent aromatic profiles.
Topical aromatic blend: Where suitable for skin application, dilute the individual essential oil in an appropriate carrier oil and follow its product-specific maximum concentration and directions.
Essential Oil Diffuser Guide
For a water-based ultrasonic diffuser, approximately 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water is a useful general starting point.
Diffuser output, room size, airflow, the strength of the essential oil, and personal preference can all affect the appropriate amount. Start conservatively and adjust only when necessary.
For extended use, intermittent diffusion is preferable to continuous all-day diffusion. Alternate periods of diffusion with periods when the diffuser is switched off and maintain normal room ventilation.
Essential Oils with Carrier Oils
Essential oils intended for skin application should generally be diluted in a suitable carrier oil rather than applied undiluted.
Depending on the individual product, suitable carrier options may include seed oils, nut and kernel oils, botanical infused oils, and fruit oils.
For general adult body oils and lotions, a 1–3% essential-oil concentration is a commonly used general range. Lower concentrations may be appropriate for sensitive applications.
Individual essential oils can have their own lower maximum dermal concentrations or additional precautions. Product-specific directions and limits always take priority over a general dilution range.
Essential Oils in the Bath
Do not add undiluted essential oil directly to bath water. Essential oils do not dissolve in water, so drops placed directly into the bath can remain concentrated and come into direct contact with the skin.
When an individual essential oil is appropriate for bath use, incorporate it into a suitable bath base or dispersing medium before adding it to the water and follow the product-specific instructions.
A suitable carrier oil may be used for certain bath preparations when appropriate, but oils can make the bathtub surface slippery. Exercise care when entering and leaving the bath.
Epsom salts or ordinary milk should not be relied upon by themselves to disperse essential oils in bath water.
Carrier Oils
Defcia Carrier Oils provide botanical bases that can be used independently where appropriate or as carriers for compatible essential oils.
Seed Oils
Seed-derived carrier oils can be used as botanical body oils, incorporated into personal-care routines, or used as a base for properly diluted essential-oil blends, depending on the individual product.
Apply according to the individual product directions. When using a seed oil as an essential-oil carrier, calculate the essential-oil concentration according to the specific essential oil being used.
Nut & Kernel Oils
Nut and kernel oils can provide versatile bases for body oils and botanical blends and may be used to dilute compatible essential oils.
Customers with known nut or botanical sensitivities should review the product's botanical source and label before use.
Botanical Infused Oils
Botanical infused oils combine a carrier base with botanical material through an infusion process. Their appropriate use depends on the carrier base, infused botanical, and individual product directions.
They may be incorporated into suitable body-care or botanical-oil routines according to the individual product label.
Fruit Oils
Fruit-derived carrier oils may be used individually or as part of a botanical oil blend according to the characteristics and directions of the specific product.
When using any carrier oil with an essential oil, the safety limits of the essential oil determine the appropriate final concentration.
Hydrosols
Hydrosols, also known as botanical or floral waters, are different from concentrated essential oils. They should be used according to their own product-specific directions rather than according to essential-oil dilution rules.

Product-Specific Directions Come First
Botanical species, plant parts, production methods, concentrations, and natural chemical compositions vary. Not every essential oil, carrier oil, or hydrosol is suitable for every method described in this general guide.
Always follow the individual Defcia product page, product label, botanical identity, recommended method of use, and product-specific safety information.
Safety & Responsible Use
Do not apply undiluted essential oils directly to the skin. Dilute essential oils appropriately for the intended application and follow any lower product-specific maximum concentration.
Avoid direct contact of essential oils with the eyes, inside the ears, mucous membranes, and other sensitive areas.
Do not ingest essential oils unless the specific product is expressly intended for that purpose and its use is directed by an appropriately qualified professional.
When trying a new topical botanical product, begin conservatively and discontinue use if irritation or an unwanted reaction occurs.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, using prescription medication, managing an existing health condition, or considering essential-oil use for a child, seek appropriate professional guidance before use.
When diffusing around children, pets, or other sensitive individuals, consider the individual oil, room size, ventilation, exposure time, and product-specific precautions before use.
Essential oils are concentrated and may be flammable. Keep them away from open flames, excessive heat, and other ignition sources.
Store all products according to their individual label instructions, securely closed and away from inappropriate heat, light, moisture, or other conditions that may affect product quality.
Keep essential oils and other concentrated botanical products out of reach of children.
The information on this page provides general product-use and safety guidance. It does not replace the directions, precautions, or limitations provided for an individual product.
